Little Man w/ Rank Strangers, Tim Casey & the Martyrs

Hailing From the Twin Cities indie rock heyday Superman Curl has been providing their unique blend of high energy garage rock to very receptive ears since the late 1990’s. Superman Curl was voted by City Pages as top 5 new band in 1995 and their self-titled release was voted as best new album by The Minnesota Music Association (MMA). Their quick and catchy music sound has been described as equal parts Replacements and Clash with a healthy dose of pop hooks that will get your foot stomping. Enthusiastically acclaimed by the local music press and featured on radio stations Radio K, KFAI, and Rev 105, KQ92, Cities 97, Superman Curl have been intricately part of the independent music culture over the years . The band’s founding members Chris Schoonover (99ers, Black Widows), Joel Reiss (The Favorite Things), and Chris Banick (Sonic Ctrl, Big Adventure) are often joined by past players Ted Sonquist and Willie McMannus (Middle States) and other friends to round our their sonic punch.
This will be their first show since 2010 — join them on a celebratory night as they get back together to knock out some of their favorite tunes on stage with a bevy of fantastic local bands for a one night affair of full-on rock frenzy. Expect some fun surprises and special guests!!

The best of classic guitar driven rock in one small package. Little Man has been described as across between George Harrison, David Bowie, T.Rex and Jack White with a familiar rock sound that is somehow all their own while heavily being inspired by spiritual and Zen themes.

Chris Perricelli began playing guitar at age 13 in Hamilton, Massachusetts. His first band in high school was called The One Eyed Kurtz. At the time, they were highly respected for their originals. Chris played many solo electric shows at school and in town as well as with the band at talent shows. At age 17, Chris found a paying job during his junior and senior year as he joined a classic rock cover band as lead guitarist with guys almost twice his age. The Curtis Haines Band played many clubs and bars in Massachusetts’ north shore area earning Chris a high standing among friends and live music goers. Chris becomes known as “The Kid“.

Leaving home, Chris moved to Chicago and attended college at DePaul University with help of a music scholarship. He was a Sound Recording Tech. major at the school of music. It is here that Perricelli forms Little Man in 1995. “About a Painting” becomes the self-released debut EP recorded by Phil Bonnet in 1998. After this release came “Core of Discovery” in 2000. A full length album recorded by classmate Ed Tinley with Dave Cottini on drums and Derek Brovold on bass. The following year Cottini joined the Universal signed Ike Reilly Assassination and Chris joined them as a guitar technician on their national tours. By 2002 Chris felt the need for a big change.

He moved to the Twin Cities and formed a new Little Man with Ken DeVoe on drums and Heath Henjum on bass. This new trio produced “Big Rock” in 2004. A self-released full length album recorded by Rich Mattson. The band now begins to build a bigger reputation by playing more local shows and by touring the mid-west.

Tim Casey & the Martyrs have been performing original, black tie R&R in the upper Midwest since 1999.  Their songs have strong melodic and vocal hooks, muscular guitars, gritty vocals, and a rhythm section that drives like a locomotive.  Their songs exhibit a unique combination of R&R flavors from the past several decades.  First-time listeners often sing along with songs they’ve never heard before – a sign of great songwriting.  Listeners say they hear flavors of: Replacements, Rolling Stones, Cheap Trick, Mott the Hoople, Foo Fighters, Elvis Costello, Todd Rundgren and much more in our music.  The band consists of guitar, bass, drums, and Hammond organ; a timeless combination.  We’ve performed throughout the Twin Cities and Chicago, been on the radio in both metropolitan areas, and are available on major streaming platforms. Their 2022 single “The Dream Calls” (The Dream Calls (youtube.com)) is a prelude to upcoming releases.
