BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT – ENJOY YOUTH album May 17 th 2024

After 4 critically acclaimed albums, including 2020’s #1 UK Dance Album ‘Fun City’, Bright Light Bright Light will release ‘Enjoy Youth’ on May 17 th , whose mission statement is simply to create and cultivate joy in these current times. The new album features star turns from current musical powerhouse GRAMMY nominated Mykal Kilgore alongside artists who soundtracked his own youth: dance legend Ultra Naté, the voice of Air’s ‘All I Need’ Beth Hirsch, Top 5 hitmaker Berri and producer of stars like Kylie Minogue, Kelis, Rachel Stevens & Sugababes Richard X.

Described as possessing “Working Girl-era realness” by Rolling Stone and as “Fabulous” by Sir Elton John, Rod aka BLBL has won fans of critics and contemporaries alike with his effervescent pop music. Frosted with a little nostalgia, his music is hugely inspired by cinema and pop culture, bubbling with Easter Eggs and nods to his favourite artists and films.

He has collaborated with Sir Elton John on 4 songs, with Andy Bell of Erasure, all Scissor Sisters members, Justin Vivian Bond, Sandra Bernhard, a slew of RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni – Jujubee, Trinity The Tuck, Katya, Scarlet Envy, Miz Cracker and Scarlet Envy – and has toured the world opening for Cher, Sir Elton John, Erasure, John Grant and Ellie Goulding.

Alongside his renowned stage shows, his DJ sets have also won a legion of fans – from his weekly Time Out Recommended Tea Dances in NYC (Romy & Michele’s Saturday Afternoon Tea Dance at Alan Cumming’s bar) to his sets at Glastonbury, at NYC’s MoMA, DC’s Smithsonian or a slew of Pride Festivals across the US, UK and Europe. As well as his favourite pop, disco and dance picks, he is known for his mashups which have amassed millions of views across TikTok and Instagram Reels, winning praise from dozens of high profile celebrities and even BBC Radio 2 play.
The ’Enjoy Youth’ era is ready to bring a party to town, ready to fill dancefloors with sparkling pop music and ready to show why this man and his wonderful collaborators have nurtured such a wonderful, caring and loyal community.
